Salem Educational Foundation and Alumni Association Alumni Teachers

The Salem City Schools are blessed to have many alumni who work in the school system and now serve new generations of Salem school students. The list that follows is our most current compilation of graduates who work in the school system and their memories of their experiences as students. We hope you enjoy them. If you are a Salem school alumnus employed by the Salem school system and you are not listed here, please send your name, your class year, and a short statement of your favorite school memories to Barbara Gresham, Executive Secretary, at vbgresham@netzero.net or at SEF&AA, P.O. Box 1461, Salem, VA 24153 and we will add them to the page.

Caleb Littlejohn Hall (AL ’61)
My father and mother attended Salem High on Broad Street. My mother was in the last class before the old Salem High burned. All of her siblings also graduated from there except her youngest sister who graduated from Andew Lewis. Her sister Camille Dawson Sullivan owned Dixie Farms, which is the site of the present Salem High School.
I attended Academy Street Elementary School and Broad Street Elementary School. After graduation from Andrew Lewis, I graduated from VMI in '65 and Virginia Tech in '68 before joining the army. I spent a year in '71 skiing in Utah, Idaho, and Austria before substitute teaching in '72 and '73. I was hired as a science teacher at Glenvar in '74 where I coached track, cross country, and gymnastics. In '79 I came to Salem High as an assistant principal before taking my present job as principal in '87.
Mrs. Dianne G. Jones (AL '63)

I have been a Central Office Secretary in the Special Education Department for 21 years and retired June 30, 2005. I am married to Mike Jones (26 years) and have three children Vicki, Scott and Melinda, and four grandsons. I have lived in Salem since 1957, coming from the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Having graduated from ALHS, which of course is now ALMS, I find all the recent renovations to my old alma mater a little bitter sweet. The improvements are state of the art and needed, but I sure hated to see an old familiar site change. My 21 years with the Salem City Schools have been so rewarding. What a wonderful experience it has been, and I feel I am a better person due to the association with school personnel here.

Anne G. Roseberry (AL ’67)

Before graduating from Andrew Lewis, I attended two other Salem Schools which no longer are schools: Academy Street, Grades 1-3 and Broad Street, Grades 4-7. I began teaching at East Salem Elementary in 1983 as a kindergarten teacher and school counselor and continue in that position to the present. Both of my children (Todd and Brandi) attended East Salem, ALMS, and SHS.

Sharon Wimmer (AL ’67)

I attended Andrew Lewis High School and graduated in 1967. My husband Woody Wimmer graduated in 1966. I nowteach kindergarten at South Salem Elementary but began at East Salem where I was also a kindergarten teacher. I am now teaching children of the children I taught. Many of my children have grandparents with whom I went to school. It is really nice to get to see them all again. It was weird getting hired by my high school principal, Dr. Hunt!

Margaret Tillman Humphrey (AL ’68)

I never imagined when I was in high school at Andrew Lewis that I would one day be back teaching here and become an assistant principal. I still hear teachers’ voices in the hallways that I will never forget. For example, I had Mrs. Annie Aldridge for Latin when she was still Miss Cook. I will never forget the Latin Pageants that we always had in the spring. Miss Cook was very special to all of her students.
Also, Miss Calaway was very memorable. I used to visit her at her home. She was so involved with her dogs that she would give them “People Cookies.” Miss Maxwell and Mrs. Bailey were two sisters who taught math. I also remember Mrs. Chick. Everyone remembers her! Mr. Gary Kelly was the head guidance counselor, and Shelby Cook (now at the high school) was his secretary. Also in the Guidance Department was Mrs. Weeks.
Mr. Eddie Joyce was the football coach, and he was bigger than life at that time because Salem was (and still is) such a big football town. When we won the state championships, I still can see all of the fire engines and cars waiting for us to get back to Salem. The town actually closed down!

Becky Morgan (AL ’69)

I attended West Salem, Conehurst, and graduated from ALHS. Now, I teach kindergarten at GW Carver. I am married to my high school sweetheart Bob Morgan, who graduated from ALHS in 1968. He teaches seventh grade science at Glenvar Middle School.

Judy Wimmer Loope (AL ’69)

I attended Conehurst Elementary, now National College of Business and Technology, through seventh grade. Back then, Andrew Lewis High School was grades eight through twelve with no middle school.
All of my high school years were spent in the art room of ALHS with art teachers Carol Jo Nichols and later John Bullock. I decided in the tenth grade to become an art teacher. Nearly thirty years later I’m still in the art rooms of East Salem and South Salem Elementary Schools!

Susan Bowman (AL ’70)

I teach IB Latin, Latin I, Latin II, and Classical Mythology at Salem High School and Latin I at Andrew Lewis Middle School.

My husband is Garland Bowman and our daughter, Kerri Bowman, is a SHS rising junior who takes Latin from her mom.
I attended Andrew Lewis, student taught there, taught high school there, and am teaching there as a middle school. Until recently, the SHS and ALMS staffs had some of my former teachers and my students - three generations! I am privileged to teach some of the finest young people and work with the best colleagues a person could find. There cannot be many communities anywhere which are more supportive of their educational programs.

Robin Richardson (Glenvar ’70)

I attended Academy Street School, Broad Street School, the old South Salem Elementary, the current South Salem Elementary, and Glenvar High School. After teaching in Lancaster County and Roanoke County, I now teach sixth and seventh grade Exploratory Art and eighth grade art at Andrew Lewis Middle School. I also taught at West Salem and Salem High School when Salem first became an independent school system.

My parents are William Richardson and Dorothy Richardson. Both are Andrew Lewis alumni. My sisters are Susan Pence, Jody Hornick, and Amy Raines. Amy is also a Salem teacher. She teaches at G.W Carver. My brother is Mark Richardson

Lisa Gleixner Brown (AL ’71)

I attended Salem Intermediate in eighth grade and Andrew Lewis High School in ninth through twelfth grades. Now I am teaching sixth grade language arts at Andrew Lewis Middle School. I am married to Alex Brown. We have two children, Heather Lee Brown and Josh Brown. I feel like I came home when I started teaching at Andrew Lewis. Even with the renovations, it is still the old “Andy Lew” from my past but without the indentations on the stair steps.

Sheila Harrison (Glenvar '71)

I teach sixth grade language arts at Andrew Lewis Middle School. I attended West Salem Elementary in third grade and moved to South Salem and went to SSE old school in fourth and fifth grades. The new "round" school was built, and I attended sixth and seventh grades before moving the next year to Glenvar. I did student teaching at South Salem in kindergarten and third. Then I began my teaching career there in first grade. I also taught second and fourth at South. Now I am at ALMS and teach sixth and seventh grades. There were a few teachers still at South when I began teaching who were there when I was a student.

Camellia Casey Thompson (AL ’72)

I attended all-black Carver High School from first to fourth grades, Broad Street Elementary in fifth and sixth, Salem Intermediate in seventh and eighth, and Andrew Lewis High School in ninth through twelfth. I have many positive memories from being a “little girl” riding the bus and going to school with high schoolers. There are likewise many memories surrounding the integration era as well.

Yolanda V. Moss (AL ’74)

I was born and raised in Salem and attended Carver School in first, second, and third grades. Then I attended Broad Street School, which is now Salem City Hall, in fourth and fifth grades. The transition of leaving Carver and going to Broad Street was not that difficult in those days because my aunt, Elaine Casey, was always there for me as a paraprofessional! I then returned to Carver although it had a different name, Salem Intermediate, for the sixth and seventh grades. My eighth through twefth grades were at Andrew Lewis High School. At that time, my maiden name was Lewis! I have been employed at South Salem Elementary for the last 4 years as an office aide. I have two daughters. Allie Moss will be attending Andrew Lewis next year, and Gabby Moss will be a junior at Salem High School.

Susie Rudolph (AL '74)

I earned an Associates Degree in Secretarial Science from Virginia Western Community College and worked with Roanoke County Schools before coming to SHS. I am the financial secretary and bookkeeper at Salem. I have one son and one daughter and one grandchild.

Bonnie McCune Crotts (AL ’75)

I began school at East Salem Elementary, followed by Salem Intermediate (now Carver), and then Andrew Lewis High School. I have been with the City of Salem Schools for 16 years. Nine of those years were as a teacher’s aide and office aide at ALMS, and now I’m an Administrative Secretary at the Central Office. My spouse of 28 years is James Crotts II (Bugsy). We have three children: son Jamie (26), daughter Kristen (24) , and son Karl (19).

James M. “Jim” Paxton (AL ’75)

I attended Academy Street Elementary School, Broad Street Elementary School, Salem Intermediate School, and Andrew Lewis High School. I taught at Andrew Lewis Middle School from August 1985 - June 2001. Now, I teach at Salem High School and am the band director. I replaced my high school band director, Dennis Reaser. My wife, Hilda R. Paxton, also teaches at Salem High School. We met at JMU while in school there. Both of our daughters graduated from Salem High School: Jessica N. Paxton in 2001, and Jennifer C. Paxton in 2004.

Pam Palmer (Cave Spring ’75)

My parents are Ed and Bunny Harless. My brothers are David Harless (AL '68) and Paul Harless (AL ‘72). My son Brad Sebolt will graduate from Salem High in 2007.

Ever since I was able to pick up a pencil, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Never did I imagine that I would end up in the same location where I spent many memorable years! Teaching in the City of Salem is quite an honor!

Michael Cox (AL ’76)

My school days were spent at East Salem Elementary, Salem Intermediate, and Andrew Lewis High School. I have taught since 1983 at Andrew Lewis Middle School. My wife of 19 years is Jori Cordell Cox. We have three sons Nathan, Brent, and Kevin.

Dianna Beamer (AL ’76)

My education began at Academy Street, followed by Broad Street, Salem Intermediate, and Andrew Lewis. I teach second grade at West Salem Elementary. My husband, Mike Beamer, is a technology teacher at his alma mater Glenvar High. Our son Chad graduated this year, and our son Ben is a sophomore at Glenvar. I taught two years at Andrew Lewis Junior High School. Many of the faculty were my teachers during the years I was at Lewis. True to the song, "I’m Salem born,” Salem is the greatest!!! The love and support are amazing and overwhelming in our schools and community.

Charlene Guard (AL ’77)

After completing East Salem Elementary and Salem Intermediate, I graduated from Andrew Lewis in the last graduating class. Currently, I am an aide in kindergarten at West Salem. My husband, Danny Guard, is the principal of Glenvar Elementary. We have sons Caleb who is 19 (SHS '04) and Luke who is 16 and who is a rising Junior at SHS. My father and sister also graduated from Andrew Lewis (’52 and ’72). My mother is retired from Roanoke County Schools. My sons had teachers at Salem who taught me at Andrew Lewis. I work with high school classmate Leigh Smith and Mary DeBord. Mary's mother was my teacher at Lewis.

Dawn Bryant Hartless (SHS ’78)

I attended Andrew Lewis High School and was in the FIRST graduating class from Salem High School. My mother, Mary Louise St. Clair Bryant, graduated from Andrew Lewis in 1957. Teaching here at Salem High is wonderful. It was my goal after graduation to return here to teach, and I still love it 15 years later. It is exciting to teach alongside some of those who taught and counseled me, as well as those with whom I graduated. It just “feels like home,” and I imagine it always will.

Lynne Light Price (SHS ’78)

I started first grade at Acadmey Street School in 1966. Then I went to Broad Street School from fourth through sixth grade. Next I attended Salem Intermediate (now G.W. Carver) for seventh and eigth grades, and finally Andrew Lewis High. I was in the first graduating class of the new Salem High School in 1978. It seems like yesterday! I am the secretary at East Salem Elementary School. I have been here since 1992. I have been married to Vance Price for 25 years. We have a son, Jake (SHS '03), and a daughter Jamie who is a rising tenth grader at SHS.

I can’t think of a place I’d rather be!

Bob Penn (SHS ’78)

I attended ALHS for three years and finished at Salem High. I was a member of the golf team for four years. My father attended SHS when it was in the old Broad Street school and graduated from ALHS after it was built, the exact opposite from me. He was also on the ALHS football team. I think he was team captain one year. I now teach seventh grade civics at ALMS and am in my ninth year.

Kevin Simms (SHS '78)

Previously, I was a Glenvar High student because of the way the attendance line was drawn. My neighbor went to Andrew Lewis. My wife, Kim Milton Simms, is also from the class of 1978 and was a Glenvar student. Our daughter Megan will graduate from Salem High in 2007. She plans to attend college and study Forensic Science.

Julie Mowles (SHS ’78)

I attended East Salem Elementary as a child and now teach fitth grade here. I also attended Salem Intermediate School and Andrew Lewis for three years. I was in the first class to graduate from Salem High School. I love East Salem!

Pamela Carter (SHS ’79)

I attended Academy Street School and Broad Street School before moving to Salem Intermediate. My high school years were spent at Andrew Lewis High and Salem High. I am in my fifth year of teaching Social Studies at Salem High. My father, uncle, aunts, cousins, and older brother and sister all graduated from Andrew Lewis. So, we have a long Salem tradition. I was very proud to come back and teach at my Alma Mater. I have great respect for the academic standards and hope to impress upon my students a similar appreciation for those high standards. I also found it fun to be able to teach along with so many of my former teachers. Although many have now retired, I still use many of their strategies to teach my classes.

Anthony Wirt (SHS ’79)

I teach eighth grade science at Andrew Lewis Middle School. My parents are Bill and Edith Wirt . My brother and sister both graduated from Salem.

One of my most enduring memories was being asked for my hall pass by Ms. Moseley while going to practice as the newly hired cross country coach.

Sherri Smith Shupe (SHS ’79)

I started school at South Salem Elementary, then attended Salem Intermediate, Andrew Lewis High School, and Salem High School. I teach seventh grade Life Science at Andrew Lewis Middle School. My parents were the late King Edward Smith IV and Linda Dean Smith Dorathy. My mother is a big SHS football fan. My sisters are Dawn Smith Carroll and Beth Smith Vanderpool. My husband is Robert (Bob) Shupe, who is also a 1979 SHS graduate.

We have a daughter, Stephanie Lynn Shupe, who will graduate from SHS in '06. I feel honored and privileged to work in the Salem City School System. I live in the best place in the world and have the best job also! I’m not going anywhere else!

Judy Owen Fisher (SHS ’79)

I married my high school sweetheart, Jim Fisher, who is also a ’79 graduate. We have three children who attend Salem Schools. Chris is a rising tenth grader at SHS, Will begins high school at Salem, and Chad is a rising fifth grader at South Salem. I teach second grade at South Salem. All of my children have attended South Salem because I live in the South Salem area. ”I’m Salem born, I’m Salem bred, and when I die, I’ll be Salem dead.”

Martha G. Wade (SHS ’80)

I went to East Salem, Salem Intermediate, Andrew Lewis High, then Salem High and graduated in 1980.
I have worked as a paraprofessional at Salem High and will teach special education at Hidden Valley High School next year.
Working in the school where I graduated from is for me like returning home. I take ownership in the building and how the community feels about the students there. It's MY school, and I love every brick in the building!!! I was there the day the doors opened, so I remember how it looked then, and the way it looks now is very similar. What is really strange is that many teachers I had in high school are still here. It is kind of weird.
It's even better that I know my children will graduate from the same school, so that the tradition will continue and hopefully they will love the school as much as I do.

Carrie Poff (SHS ’84)

I attended South Salem and Salem High School. I taught third grade at West Salem Elementary, sixth grade at Andrew Lewis and am currently teaching eighth grade math at Andrew Lewis. I married Keven Poff (SHS ’83), and we have three children. I love teaching in the Salem School System. It feels like a family.

Susan Vaughan Robertson (SHS ’84)

I was in the first class to graduate when Salem became a new system. My sisters Stephanie Vaughan Danco and Ellen Vaughan Breedlove as well as my brother Rob Vaughan also graduated from Salem High School.

I am thankful and very proud to be a part of Salem's School System. It is great to be able to give back to Salem's wonderful, supportive community.
Current teaching position- East Salem

Betsy Ferguson Hurley (SHS ’85)

I attended South Salem Elementary, Glenvar Junior High, and Salem High School. Now I am going into my seventeenth year teaching fourth grade at South Salem .
I have so many fond memories of South Salem! My kindergarten teacher is still here, and I have so much respect for her that I still have a very hard time calling her by her first name! When I introduce myself to my class at the beginning of the year, I always tell them I have literally been where they are sitting, but now I get to be on the other side of the desk. I tell my parents I feel like my life has come full circle. I graduated from Roanoke College in 1989, so I never really left Salem!
I am married to a Salem graduate in my class and have 2 children. My son Blake is a second grader at South Salem and my daughter Ann Elizabeth is three.

Traci Gilley Basham (SHS ’86)

I attended Academy Street, Carver Elementary, Andrew Lewis Junior High and
graduated from Salem High School.
I student taught at West Salem for a semester before being hired to teach here in 1991. I have been here for 14 years! I am married to Gregg Basham. We both graduated from Virginia Tech. I have an eight-year-old daughter who attends West Salem Elementary and a three-year-old son. We have a 12-year-old husky/malamute who is very much a part of the family!! I have enjoyed teaching in my hometown. It is always neat to go to city-wide meetings, such as convocation, and see my former high school teachers like Mr. May , Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Goodwin and Coach White. It felt kind of weird the first few years, but I have gotten used to it now that I have been around for a while. I even had the chance to teach Mr. May’s daughter when I taught second grade. I currently work with Mary Gubala at West Salem, who was MY guidance counselor at Carver! Salem is a wonderful place to teach, and I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else!

Cristi Rutherford LaPrad (SHS '87)

Mr. Bryant was the principal my senior year. We were the first ninth grade class to go through SHS!! I teach first grade at G. W. Carver Elementary, and I have three beautiful daughters. Madeleine, seven, is a rising second grader at GWC; Claire, five, will be attending kindergarten at GWC next year; and Mallory is two. I have baby boy due in October!

Nicole Stephens Foley (SHS ’87)

My Salem school years were spent at G.W. Carver, Lewis, and SHS. I am the librarian at G.W. Carver.
My husband is Randy Foley (SHS 87). Our children are Bronwyn Natalie, a student at Andrew Lewis Middle School and Grant, a student at West Salem Elementary.
The library sure has changed since I was a student at Carver! After living away for 10 years, it sure is nice to come home to Salem and to the schools.

Trina Bateman (SHS ’88)

I am married to Richard Bateman (SHS ’90). I have 2 beautiful children, Morgan 11 and Patrick 4. Morgan will be a sixth grader at ALMS. My son Patrick will be attending his second year in the pre-school run by the Early Childhood Education program at Salem High School.

Mandy Morris Dallas (SHS ’92)

I attended East Salem, ALMS, and SHS. My husband, David, was inspired to teach when he substitute taught fifth grade at GWC one day. He went back to school to get his P.E. endorsement. We have a son, Tanner, who is 14 months old.
As a cheerleader growing up, I had fun cheering for the athletes, but now as a counselor, I am cheering for the entire school. I love the community in which I live and teach! Salem has always had the "excellence is expected, no exceptions" attitude, and I have adopted that for my own personal sense of self. I really try to help my students understand what a special place their community is and how lucky they are to have such great teachers and opportunities that our system is able to provide. The entire community strives to put children first, and it's an honor and a privilege to work here!

Cory Batts Gregory (SHS ’92)

I attended East Salem Elementary, ALMS, and SHS. I am teaching at G.W. Carver and used to teach at ALMS as well. As a special education teacher, I work with students on all grade levels. My mom, Susan Morgan, resides in Salem; and my brother, Trey Batts, also attended Salem schools and currently resides in Richmond.
It is just interesting to me that so many of the people that I graduated with seem to remain in the area. It is a true testament to Salem that no one appears to be able to LEAVE - at least not for long!!! It is amazing to watch the children of my classmates grow up in Salem schools as well.
At one point, here at Carver, we had a large group of friends teaching that all graduated around same time. They are Mandy Morris Dallas '92, Michelle Jenkins Palleria '94, and Angie Thomason Davidson '93. We had so much fun teaching (and learning) together those first few years. I felt "at home" from the very first day because so many people were already friends to me.

My husband, Jeff, and I have a 20-month-old son named Jeffrey "Lathan" Gregory. He is an extremely important part of my life.

Joel Aaron Hickerson (SHS ’92)
My nickname is "TRIMMY," and I got it my sophomore year managing baseball for Coach Uhaus and Coach Hinkle. I graduated in 1996 from Roanoke College in health and physical education with a concentration in athletic training. I started with Salem City Schools as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide after graduation. Then I went to Smyth County Schools as a teacher and certified head athletic trainer. I had a similar position at Jefferson Forest and am now a teacher at G.W Carver and athletic trainer at Salem High School. I married Suzanne Compton in May of 1997. I attended East Salem, Andrew Lewis Middle School, and Salem High School.
Stephen Magenbauer (SHS ’92)

I graduated from Virginia Tech in May of 1996 in Business Education. I began teaching in 1996 at Cave Spring Junior High School and Roanoke County Career Center while working as an assistant football coach at Glenvar High School. From 1997 through 1999, I continued at the Roanoke County Career Center while coaching at Glenvar. In 2000, I moved to Hidden Valley Middle School and became the head football coach at Glenvar High School. In 2001, I taught at Northside High School and Glenvar Middle School while continuing as head football coach at Glenvar. In 2002 and 2003, I moved to Hidden Valley High School as a teacher and head football coach. In 2004, I came to Salem High School as teacher and head football coach.

My wife Edwynna graduated Salem in 1992 and Radford University in May 1996. We have two children, Evyn 5 and Ellie 2.

Paige Brugh Marable (SHS ’93)

I attended Andrew Lewis Middle School before graduating from SHS. I now teach English at Salem High
My husband, Matt Marable, and I have a new son, William. I can't imagine being anywhere else than Salem High. It's like a second home.

Michelle Jenkins Palleria (SHS ’94)

After attending South Salem, Andrew Lewis, and Salem High School; I graduated from Virginia Tech in 1998. I now teach at G.W. Carver, and I absolutely love the staff and the kids here. I don't think I could have found a better school. My parents are Rose, who attended Andrew Lewis, and Mike Jenkins. My brother, Darren Jenkins, went to the same schools I did. My grandfather, Oscar Jenkins, told many stories of helping build Andrew Lewis.
I can remember my parents taking me to South Salem for my orientation for kindergarten. We were lost in the circle and could not find our way out. I was at Andrew Lewis when there was no “ac” and then they started the first "makeover." We're so lucky and spoiled. I can't even imagine trying to teach in those conditions.

Katherine ("Katie") Davis Crotts (SHS ’95)

I attended East Salem, Andrew Lewis Middle, and Salem High. I currently teach kindergarten at South Salem Elementary after beginning as a Title 1 teacher at East Salem. I also enjoy teaching third graders in elementary summer school. This summer will be the sixth year.

I am married to Todd Crotts. We have a miniature dachshund named Tallulah and a gray cat named Clyde. My grandmother, the late Mrs. Katherine Davis, taught at West Salem Elementary.
It is really something special to work alongside teachers that I admired as a child.
I enjoy quilting, reading, and spending time with my family and friends outside of school.

Wendy Kuehn (SHS ’95)

I attended South Salem Elementary, Andrew Lewis Middle, and Salem High. I teach seventh grade math and life science at Lewis.
I married Grant Smythers (the basketball coach at SHS) in July. My mother and grandmother attended Lewis when it was a high school.
I teach with teachers who taught me in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. It was hard getting used to calling them by their first names. I also teach with parents of kids I graduated with in 1995.

Carrie Moses Overstreet (SHS ’96)
I owe a lot to the Salem Educational Foundation. Because of the scholarship I was awarded at my graduation, I was able to come out of my freshman year of college debt free!
As a student, I moved to Salem and started at Andrew Lewis Middle in the seventh grade. I then went on to Salem High and graduated in 1996.
It was always my goal to return to Salem to teach. After graduating from Carson-Newman College in December 2000, I spent several weeks after my college graduation substituting at the four Salem elementary schools. In April 2001, I was hired full time to finish out the school year as a Title I teacher at East Salem. In August 2001, a second grade position became available at East, and I was hired. I am still teaching second grade here at East Salem, and I love it!
I married John E. Overstreet in 1999, and I have two children. My son Trent is 5 and will be starting kindergarten here at East in September. My daughter Ella just celebrated her first birthday on May 30.
Like I said before, the SEF helped me a lot with my college scholarship and also influenced my father, Norman Moses, to support a scholarship through his business that would benefit technical school students.
Summer Holden Custer (SHS ’96)

I am Summer Custer now. I just married Chad Custer, a SHS graduate. I went to South Salem for fifth grade, ALMS, and graduated from Salem High. I graduated from Radford in 2000 and began teaching at South Salem right after graduation. This is my fifth year teaching second grade. Dr. Seibert was my earth science teacher when I was a freshman, and now he is my principal. I have come full circle!
