G. Marshall Mundy
Marshall Mundy graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1952 and during his years there participated in many scholastic activities. He was a member of the class council, the Hi-Y, the Latin Club, Forensics, the Annual Staff, and the Monogram Club. He was named to the First Team All City-County basketball team in his junior and senior years and the Second Team All City-County football team his senior year. He was also a member of the varsity track team, received the prestigious B'nai Brith Award, and named Most Popular Boy by the Senior Mirror.
Marshall entered Virginia Military Institute in 1952 and earned a B.A. degree in English in 1956. At VMI he played varsity basketball, was named Distinguished Academically and a Distinguished Military Student, and elected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. After graduation at VMI Marshall entered the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and was stationed in Germany with the 14th Armored Calvary Regiment. His unit's mission was to patrol the border between West and East Germany. Honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant, in 1956, Marshall enrolled at the University of Virginia Law School and earned an L.L.B. degree in 1962. In law school, he served as President of his second year class, was Executive Editor of Virginia Law Review, and elected to the Raven Society and ODK.
Following his Graduation from Law School, Marshall joined the well-known Roanoke Law office of Woods, Rogers, Muse & Walker, and remained there for nearly a decade. He gained considerable recognition as an outstanding trial lawyer and in 1971 became the senior member of Mundy, Rogers & Associates.
Marshall's career accomplishments have been quite significant and include recognition in Who's Who in American Law; Who's Who in America; Fellow, American Bar Foundation; Fellow, Virginia Bar Association; Fellow, American College of Trial Lawyers; and Advocate, American Board of Trial Advocates. He served as president of the Western Virginia Chapter of Trial Advocates in 1989 and 1990. Membership in each of the bar organizations is limited to 1% of the attorneys in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Marshall also served as president of the Roanoke Bar Association in 1990-91; and Chairman of the Board of Governors, Litigation Section of the Virginia Stat Bar in 1985. He has also served on the Board of Governors, Senior Law Section of the Virginia Bar; Virginia Trial Lawyers Association; and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America
Marshall served as a member of the Board of Directors of the VMI Alumni Association; was a former member of the Board of Governors of VMI Keydet Club; and was the former president of the Roanoke Chapter of VMI Alumni Association. His community service has included serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Roanoke chapter of the American Red Cross and as a member of the Board of the Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. Marshall and his wife Monika reside in Roanoke and have four children; Stephens, Liza, G. Marshall Jr., and Natalie.
In recognition of his outstanding career accomplishments, G. Marshall Mundy is inducted into the 2003 Salem Alumni Hall of Fame established by the Salem Educational Foundation and Alumni Association.
