Policy and Procedures for Selection of Salem Alumni Hall of Fame
Preface
For outstanding accomplishments, the Foundation will annually bestow a "Salem Alumni Hall of Fame" recognition on certain worthy graduates of Salem high schools, past and present.
Selection Committee
Recipients will be chosen be a committee of peers appointed annually by the Board of the Foundation.
Standards of Selection
Recipients will be those graduates who, in the opinion of the committee, have most clearly distinguished themselves in their chosen career. Due consideration will also be given to other meritorious acts of service (military, community, benevolence, etc.).
Eligibility
Recipients must be of good character and have had a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in their profession, occupation, or areas of service, which shall be unlimited in scope. Also, recipients may be male or female, living or deceased.
Number of Recipients
For the initial year, 1996, there will be no limit on the number of recipients the committee may select for recognition. Thereafter, no more than ten (10) will be recognized in a given year. However, names of nominees not chosen when nominated may be resubmitted in any succeeding year.
Nomination Forms
Relatives, acquaintances, groups, or organizations, having full knowledge of the person to be nominated and his, or her, accomplishments may submit nomination forms. Forms may be obtained from committee chairman, Mr. Douglas C. Dowe, 1537 Rugby Blvd., N.W., Roanoke, VA 24017 .
Deadline
Completed nomination forms, together with relevant supporting information,
and a photo of the nominee, if available, must be received by the committee
no later than June 1.
